Hi, I’m Kristen. I am a Functional Exercise & Nutrition Specialist and I’m here to help your body and mind function it’s best. I am more than just a health enthusiast. I have a Bachelors Degree in the field of Health and Sports Science, I’m an athlete and I was raised by a gourmet chef. My passion for health coupled with my diverse background have given me the tools to create tasty and nutritious recipes along with truly functional workouts for the whole family. My mission is to empower you and your family to make smart decisions about your health.
As a Functional Exercise Specialist I create exercises and workouts designed to improve the function of your everyday life. Whether you are an athlete, a Mom, a business executive or all three, the movements you perform in exercise should mimic the movements you use in life.
My nutrition philosophy is based on bio-individuality. Genetics play an important role in determining what foods are appropriate for each of us. Some people do an okay job of breaking down starchy foods and grains while others fair better omitting these foods from their diet. Some humans have evolved to be able to digest cow’s milk while others lack the enzymes to do so. And some people are able to extract the nutrients they need from a mostly plant based diet while others need a healthy dose of protein, fat and other nutrients found only in animal based foods. The point is that we’re all different and no one diet is best for everyone.
While I do make some individual recommendations to my personal clients, I try to avoid making blanket statements about diet and health when talking to the masses. BUT, regardless of what you decide to exclude from your diet, be sure to INCLUDE plenty of green vegetables and exercise.
As an Integrative Nutrition and Health Coach I am a guide for people wanting to become healthier in body, mind and spirit. I write articles on holistic nutrition, functional exercise, parenting, relationships and more. It’s important to remember that health is about so much more than just the food on your plate. It’s about the quality of your relationships, your ability to manage stress, and the enjoyment you feel in life.
