My clients who have the most long-term success are those who start a program for health rather than vanity. They’re not exercising and paying attention to what they eat so they can look good in a bikini. They are doing it because they want to be healthy.
If you are constantly judging your body and comparing yourself to others, here are a few simple steps to change your thoughts.
Start each day with a positive affirmation like this. “I love and accept myself exactly as I am now. I love every inch of my wonderful body. Today I am going to be good to my body by exercising and choosing whole foods that nourish my beautiful body.”Also say this affirmation when you catch yourself thinking negative things about your body or self-image.
Instead of thinking, “Is this food going to make me fat?” think, “Is this food going to nourish my body?” Just because a food is low in calories doesn’t mean it is good for you.
Stop weighing yourself. It doesn’t matter what you weigh. It’s your overall health that is important. If you are avoiding processed foods and exercising daily, chances are good you’ll eventually settle in on the weight that is best for your body. Most of us aren’t meant to be a size 2. You can tell if you have lost or gained a substantial amount of weight without stepping on a scale. You can even gain weight in muscle while losing inches in fat. Leave the weigh-ins for your doctor visits.
